The Domestic Violence Shelter, Inc. in Mansfield was one of the first three shelters that opened its doors in the state of Ohio in 1979.  During the past 30 years we have been a part of this amazing movement to provide safety and education to victims of intimate partner violence in Richland, Ashland and Huron counties.   The Shelter provides safe housing and related services to nearly 450 women and children each year  In addition to safe housing, The Shelter also provides intensive case management to survivors who find themselves with no place to go.  The Shelter will assist survivors in figuring out where to go next and how to navigate the often complicated legal and social service systems.

The Domestic Violence Shelter is open 24/7.  The location of The Shelter remains anonymous to provide safety for survivors fleeing dangerous relationships.  The Shelter staffs hotline at 419-774-5840 and 800-931-7233.  The Shelter also has a sexual assault response team that provides support and advocacy to victims of sexual assault at both MedCentral Mansfield and Shelby locations, working with the SANE program (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner).  In addition to the above services, The Shelter provides support groups for both the survivor and children, individual counseling, youth advocacy, outreach services, legal advocacy and have an active group of volunteers who assist with all the functions of daily operations at The Shelter.
